Christmas Eve Outfit a.k.a Happy Holidays!

Dec 25, 2011

Merry Christmas Everyone!! :)
This is what I wore on Christmas eve, whilst my fam and I watched tv, drank hot tee and opened a few presents! I just felt like wearing comfy, snuggly bits and enjoy my evening...I also wore a bright red lipstick (Mac Glam) which I thought looked very festive and fun. Anyway, I'm off to breakfast now! Eeek happpyyy holidaayyys!

Holiday Nails

Dec 23, 2011

I decided to get into the holiday spirit by, well of course, painting my nails! I think it's such a fun way to feel just a bit more festive. So as I was getting ready to go out and do some last minute gift shopping for my family, I went ahead and added a bit of color to my nails. I began preparing them by taking off the old polish. Then I took Sephora by OPI's Sample Sale which is a gorgeous red, shimmery polish and applied one coat all over my nails. I let them dry for a sec and then followed with a white polish, Sally Hanses's Pure White, which was a bit old but still working. I lined drops of the white polish down the center of each nail and ta-dah!! I was done.

Hope you're enjoying the holidays! :)

Essie Love

Dec 20, 2011

Mochacino, Lady Like, Wrapped in Rubies. One coat of each.
I consider myself a newbie when it comes to this brand mainly because these 3 nail polishes are actually my entire Essie collection. Any of you polish lovers out there are probably finding this a bit shocking since Essie is among the biggest nail polish brands out there. I knew about Essie for a while now, but the reason I hadn't acquired a bigger collection is due to the fact that I can't justify spending practically $10 on one polish. In most drugstores, I see the $8-$10 price tag slapped on the Essie stand, which is neither budget nor mistake friendly. Though I have to admit that ten dollars is not exactly a fortune nowadays, I still feel guilty spending that much on a nail polish especially since I'm not exactly sure what I'm getting seeing as most drugstores don't have testers. So before I buy an expensive nail polish, or any other beauty product for that matter, I will test it out in the store if possible and look up swatches/reviews. Before I bought each one of these Essie polishes, since I couldn't try them out for myself, I made sure to go on beauty blogs and read about them. No matter how big or small your wallet may be, there is no point in waisting ten dollars on a color you won't like or the consistency you won't be able to tolerate. Even though (at the moment) these are the only little Essies in my entire nail polish collection, I love them all equally and to pieces. I just want to point out as well how cute and appropriate their names are: Lady Like is..lady-like. Mochacino is the color of mocha even to the point where silver glitter in the polish represents sugar in the drink. Wrapped in Rubies sounds and looks chick not dimension that gold and red shimmer in the polish represents gold metal and rubies. I realize that nail polish names are not  to everyones taste but for me personally they add a little something extra, only if they're good of course.

Here is what I've noticed about their overall quality after playing around with these polishes:

1. Unique/cute/classy/glam/chick colors
2. Though each of these polishes has a slightly different consistency, none of them are too goopy or too liquidy
3.Though Mochacino requires about 2 coats to truly be opaque, it's not streaky so after one coat it becomes a pretty tint
4. Both Wrapped in Rubies and Lady Like are opaque in one thick coat
5. Their drying time is pretty short (around 10 mins maybe)
6. These polishes tend to stay on my nails for about a week even without a top coat
7. Nicely designed packaging does not leak and looks pretty which is always a plus
8. And of course, cute color names :)

Do you have any favorite Essie polishes? I would love to try some new ones...
Hope you have a lovely day! :)

I take pics of myself because, lets face it, who else will

Dec 19, 2011

Hello lovies!
Seeing from my outfit, you can probably tell that yesterday was pretty lazy for me. If a stained, oversized shirt and some leggings don't scream: "I'm not doing anything important today", I don't know what else does. I did however do my makeup, just for fun, just because I'm a bit of a nerd. :) I went back to my old ways of doing winged liner on the top, white liner on the bottom and finishing off with a pretty pink lip color. I also went back to my old foundation, Neutrogena Healthy Skin in Classic Ivory 10, and realized how much I've missed it! I don't want to sound bigheaded but I thought my skin looked pretty good even with a few annoying spots and that, to me, means a lot. As I've mentioned before, I used a bright pink lip color, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Matte 001 Stormy Pink, and fell in love with it all over again. My lips are naturally pretty bright, which I sometimes love and sometimes absolutely get annoyed with, but this lipstick is what I like to call-the pink version of my au naturel lip color. Now my hair is a different story... I've not been paying any attention to it for at least a few months now. Occasionally I'll brush it through with the lifesaving Tangle Teezer but most days I just let it run wild and oh..it does. I figured since it's almost the 1st of Jan, what better way to start a new year than with a new haircut? Half the length, half the mess! One thing for sure, I have a feeling it's going to be a good year!

Since this is my haircut decision crunch time, if you have any suggestions, please share!
Bye lovies!

My Makeup Mess

Dec 17, 2011

I always make a huge mess when I'm getting ready in the morning... Makeup ends up being all over my vanity table and clothes-all over my bed. Since I don't have much time to tidy everything up in the morning, I have to do it when I get back. So naturally, most days I come home to this disaster.

The good news is that I'm on Christmas break right now! Which means that for a month I have no school, no hectic mornings and no project deadlines. Life doesn't get any better than this. :) I'm already a few days into my vacay and so far I've been doing, first of all, absolutely nothing but also photography, video and oh..HTML. Yes. I know. I'm a geek. To be fair though, my html skills are below average to non-existant. You can probably imagine how hard it is for me to play around with my blogs template and personalize it. Speaking of my template, I've changed it a tiny bit! I'm still not quite done tweaking everything around to make it look like what I've envisioned, but it's coming along pretty nicely!... haha if I may say so. It took me days to get it to this point and it's a good thing I have plenty more of them off! Eeeek! Like I said, life is good! :)

As far as video goes, I've actually created a "makeup tutorial" which I'll include below. I'm not  a professional filmmaker (though this video is hardly a film) so just go easy on me! And if you fancy taking a look, enjoy!

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Corinne Bailey Rae. I even went as far as creating her station on Pandora, and I love it! My two favorite of her songs are Put Your Record On and Like A Star. I've been listening to them on repeat for an embarrassing amount of time. Shhh let's keep this a secret. ;)

So that's it for me! I'm going to "play" with html now. Bye lovely bunch

Silly Faces, My Life and Christmas

Dec 10, 2011

I sat down, started taking pictures and two hours later...I had way too many. I don't know what happened. Something just came over me and...haha ok I'm just kidding but in all seriousness, I'm too easily amused when it comes to web cameras. I think it's pretty clear! :]

If you happened to be seeing me around town or telling me a story, this is what I'd look like. Going from left to right, top to bottom, here is what I'm most likely thinking in each photo:

1."Did I just say this...out loud? That's embarrassing."
2."Someone should teach squirrels how to cross the street..."
*btw, squirrels and bunnies are one of my favorite animals so you can imaging how sad I get when I see them...on the road. Too sad, moving on before I start sobbing*
3."When in doubt, smile it out. Just pretend like you have a clue and keep on nodding."
4."How did this get so awkward so fast. Under any circumstances, do not blush."
5."Wait, that wasn't supposed to be funny?"
6."......"
7."What am I doing?.."
8."I'll wait a few minutes and then make a run for it. Bored."
9."WHOA!"

My life in a nutshell for ya! Speaking of life... I am LOVING, that today is Saturday and though I have to finish a huge project over the weekend, I only have one class left before winter break starts! After next monday, I'm officially free from doing projects, studying for finals and writing papers for 5 whole weeks! How insane is that?! I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but Christmas is probably one of my favorite holidays! Street decorations, sugar cookies, hot chocolate and spending time with my family make this holiday so special and nostalgic for me personally. I remember being little and impatiently counting down the days until Christmas/New Year while my grandma spent her days cooking and baking loads of yummy food. I can't help but reminisce during this holiday season, as for me, this time is as much about making new memories as it is about remembering the old ones. I realize that I'm starting to sound cheesy and "fluffed up" but I can't help this either. ;)

(this is my "nostalgic" face haha)

Thanks for stopping by,
Hope you have a lovely day!!

My Good Luck Scarf

Dec 6, 2011

Do you have a favorite item of clothing which you wear all the time? Well, this is mine. I absolutely LOVE this scarf to pieces and..to whatever else. In fact, words can't fully describe exactly how much I love it. Besides, we all know that a photo's worth a thousand words. So, here is my "two thousand words" in the form of two photographs. The thing is, looking at it now, I'm realizing that there is nothing really special about this scarf, but, for whatever reason, I'm obsessed with it. Maybe it's because this H&M number goes with everything (*a lot of things) or maybe it's because this scarf is comfortable or maybe even because I don't own anything similar. Whatever the case may be, the main point is that I wear it way too much. And, my conclusion is-who cares! If I want to wear this scarf I will wear it. If you have something you love to wear, you should wear it also! Don't give up your personality, style, taste etc. for whatever reason.

Bye Lovies,
Expect to see lots more of me and this scarf! ;)

In love with nail polish

Dec 3, 2011

If you only knew how much I've missed wearing nail polish and the whole manicure shabang... I literally can't stop looking at my nails to the point where it's getting a bit awkward. It surely feels good to be reunited with Essie and OPI after a long time of no see. Besides, what a gal to do without her trusty nail polishes? ;) So, for the first time in a long time I whipped out Essie's Lady Like and OPI's Rumba Romance, which, btw, are amazing. I laughed, I cried, I pained my nails, basically it was a happy reunion. You get the picture. No, just kidding, I didn't laugh..or cry really..but I did actually paint my nails. I decided that if there was ever a time for "creative nail painting", it was that time. Just in case you were wondering after what I've just said-no, I'm not in kindergarden anymore, though "creative nail painting" sounds like something I would do exactly there, if I was five. Time to casually change the subject haha. So..for this nail look I did one coat of Lady Like and one stripe of Rumba Romance at the base of my nails. Yup, that's right, just one coat of each was opaque enough for my taste. A+ for good quality nail polish.

I feel the need to mention that I'm sitting inside, wearing sunglasses on my head for no reason at all. Haha welcome to my life... Ok, I've taken them off, it's all good.

Thanks for stopping by,
Yana
